Coffee + shaded, strolly-friendly walk: Galloway Creek Greenway Trail

Galloway Creek Greenway Trail: On late summer days, when pools and swimming holes are less appealing, this is the place to take your family. The trail is heavily shaded, making it comfortable for walks and bike rides even when the sun is beating down on the city. My favorite route starts at Sequiota Park, where a parking lot and public bathroom make for a stress-free beginning. Head north toward the treeline on the paved path, which takes you under the shaded canopy of the Galloway Creek Greenway Trail.

When Leo was younger, I loved taking this stroller-friendly path all the way to Kingdom Coffee, where I’d order an iced coffee and a muffin. I’d pull out a picnic blanket and let Leo crawl on the grass while I listened to an audiobook.

Now that Leo’s older, we bring his bike, and I walk alongside him. If the weather is good, we carve out time to play at Sequiota’s playground, peek in the bat cave, scramble in the creekbed, or watch geese at the pond.
