Springfield Moms, IRL: Kati

Q: How do you spend your days right now—work, home, hobbies, or anything in between?

Work during the weekdays. Weekends are usually spent with family, getting outdoors at parks, and taking hikes.

Q: How do you recharge or find rest, recovery or rejuvenation?

This is an area I struggle with. I don’t take much time for R&R in my days and know that I should prioritize it more. But when I do, I like to read, watch a Netflix show or do something to pamper myself, like doing my nails, face mask or bubble bath — these things are so refreshing. I also really enjoy yoga when I get the chance.

Q: What’s a podcast or creator you listen to in the cracks of your day?

Livinginyellow on Instagram — she shares all kinds of products. She’s a good one to watch if you love online shopping.

Thecortreport on Instagram — mom life, marriage, products, lighthearted and fun content.

ShawnJohnson on Instagram & ShawnandAndrewpods podcast — mom, life, family, marriage content. Something about them that I’m just drawn to.

Q: What tiny luxury do you treat yourself to when you can?

Coffee or shoes. 🙂

Q: What’s your child deeply into this month?

He’s really into Pokemon and board games right now. Some favorite games currently are: Bingo, Guess Who, Pokemon Monopoly, and Candy Land.

Q: Is there a book, show, or series you’re turning to at the end of the day?

Book: I just finished “Pumpkin Spice Cafe” and picked up “The Seven Year Slip.”

Show: “Ginny & Georgia” (Netflix) Also, getting nostalgic and watching “Home Improvement” episodes on Netflix for something lighthearted and family-friendly.

Q: What’s an everyday product that makes your life 5% easier?

My coffee warmer on my desk during the week keeps my cup of joe warm.

Q: What’s your go-to cheap or no-cost outing around Springfield?

We’ve been checking out different parks and easy trails close by. Last weekend, we hit the new park at Fellows Lake (Thanks Brittany for your story on that!). When the weather isn’t great for outdoor adventures, we like to go to Bass Pro and look at the animals.

Q: What dinner in your rotation always gets eaten without complaint?

Currently homemade hamburgers on the Blackstone. We’re going through a very picky eating phase. Send HELP!

Q: What’s helping you feel grounded in this season of life?

Getting outside in fresh air makes a huge difference for me. Also making sure I slow down and take in the small moments with son and husband.

Q: Is there anything you’d like to add?

Just a fun note — I’ve found therapy in Legos! Going into winter they’re a great creative and mental outlet when we can’t get outside as easily.
