Q: How do you spend your days right now—work, home, hobbies, or anything in between?
My days are mostly filled with being a mom! Homeschool, homemaker, cooking, cleaning, etc. I also direct our homeschool program, which keeps me busy, and I am fairly involved at our church. Hobbies right now include anything outside (big outdoor family!), reading, and baking with freshly milled flour.
Q: How do you recharge or find rest, recovery or rejuvenation?
Phew! Tough question. Rest is so important and looks different for everyone. I really do value actual sleep, and try to make it a priority. I feel rejuvenated when I wake up before my kids and have time to work out, do my devotion, and drink my coffee alone. I also love taking opportunities here and there to fellowship with friends and family, with or without the kiddos.

Q: What’s a podcast or creator you listen to in the cracks of your day?
I listen to a lot of podcasts. Lately, I’ve really enjoyed “Date Night With the Woods.” They discuss so many topics, all with a biblical worldview. I really appreciate that many of their podcasts are pretty short, which is nice when you’re busy wrangling young kids.
Q: What tiny luxury do you treat yourself to when you can?
I am the “get a little treat while you’re out” girl. Whether it’s a yummy iced coffee, a muffin, or a Sonic water filled to the brim with ice, I love a treat.
Q: What’s your child deeply into this month?
My son is really into drawing right now. I never thought this day would come, as he used to hate coloring. It was a quick scribble and done. He can spend hours now drawing and coloring. It’s fun to watch! My daughter loves baby dolls and reading right now. Both of my kids actually really enjoy when I read aloud to them. It is a daily practice for us. If you’ve never considered it with your kids, I would highly recommend reading “The Read Aloud Family” by Sarah Mackenzie. Even if you’re not a homeschool family!
Q: Is there a book, show, or series you’re turning to at the end of the day?
I am always gobbling up a new book. Lately, I’ve enjoyed reading everything by Glenna Marshall. My husband and I also enjoy binging a tv series at times!
Q: What’s an everyday product that makes your life 5% easier?
I have friends who do without dishwashers, and goodness, I can’t even imagine. Pretty thankful for that! I also love our Tonie Box for the kids. It plays songs and reads stories. It’s a fun, screen-free thing that keeps them entertained while I am busy.
Q: What’s your go-to cheap or no-cost outing around Springfield?
1. The Battlefield City Park is amazing. We go often, and it never gets old!
2. Fun Acre’s putt-putt is dirt cheap and a family favorite. I grew up going there, so it feels nostalgic too.
3. If you can fork up the money up front for a family Dickerson Park Zoo membership, it’s worth it. We do it every other year and ALWAYS get our money’s worth. Plus, you can special discounts, gifts, etc.
Q: What dinner in your rotation always gets eaten without complaint?
Tacos, always.
Q: What’s helping you feel grounded in this season of life?
Staying in God’s word consistently.
I send a “things to do” email every Sunday night to tons of moms in the Springfield, Mo. area. It’s full of free, often outdoorsy ideas that always match the season we’re in.
