There’s a new coffee shop that’s come up in every circle of women I know — and it happens to sit right on a trail perfect for a temperate spring walk.
“Have you tried that cute new coffee shop in Galloway?”
The first time I was asked this, I thought nothing of it. The fifth time I was asked, I decided it was time to check it out.
Cassidy Coffee Co. is a 1,100-square-foot cafe perched on top of Galloway Mercantile (4144 S Lone Pine Ave, Springfield, Mo.), a retail shop from the same owners. The modern farmhouse spot is filled with natural light, painted in millennial green and milky creams.

There’re restrained floral touches — a stretch of wildflower wallpaper here, a few bouquets there. It feels like a place designed specifically for women, which could explain the crowd that arrived by 10 a.m. one Friday.
Behind the bar, they’re serving classic espresso drinks in addition to trendy Lotus Energy drinks, milkshakes, teas, and more. They offer bakery goods, breakfast items reminiscent of a California cafe (hello $8 avocado toast!), and snacks.
Leo and I ordered hot chocolates, and the baristas — honestly, some of the friendliest and warmest baristas I’ve ever encountered — fixed them up fancy with whipped cream and sprinkles. Leo almost passed out when he saw them, declaring this the coffee shop to rule them all.
But it’s not the hot drinks everyone’s talking about. It’s the iced beverages that come in can-sealed cups. Nothing quite delights like novelty, bright colors, and a caffeine boost. The Lotus options — a natural energy drink mixed with flavors — include fun names like Cassidy Sunrise (white peach and strawberry orange) and Galloway General (cherry, raspberry and lime).
Hang out potential
This spot has WiFi and a small collection of tables, including one that can seat a larger group. Due to its popularity, go on a weekday or early in the morning to avoid a rush. I was able to find a table at 9:30 a.m. on a Friday, and again at 9:00 a.m. on a Thursday.
I recommend hanging out for a while, and when it gets noisy, go browse the Galloway Mercantile below or walk the paved trail toward Sequiota Park.
How to make it a family-friendly excursion
This coffee shop is right on the Galloway Creek Greenway Trail that runs through Sequiota Park. Head north from the coffee shop on a paved trail for 0.8 miles and end at Sequiota, or drive down to the park and walk under the tree-canopied trail north.
Leo and I go to Sequiota Park so often that we decided to get a little exploratory. We ventured off-trail down to the water and were delighted to find much prettier, wilder parts of the park.
Getting to Cassidy Coffee Co.
There’s a parking lot behind the building with a path that leads directly into the coffee shop, or you can park across the street in a gravel lot and enter through Galloway Mercantile. Towards the back is a staircase leading to the coffee shop.
