Best splash pads in Springfield, Mo. area
Jordan Valley Park
Location: 635 E. Trafficway St., Springfield, Mo. 65806
Why it’s worth visiting
Unlike a typical splash pad, Jordan Valley Park features a unique water play area designed to feel more like a natural Ozarks stream. Kids can follow an engineered brook as it babbles over a stair-stepped brick channel, creating the feel of a gentle creek flowing downhill. There’s also a large concrete splash area where water jets shoot up from the ground, giving kids plenty of opportunities to run, dodge and cool off on hot summer days.
What’s there
The water play area includes the Ozarks Stream and Fountain, with a shallow splash zone, flowing stream and fountain shows during the summer. Nearby, you’ll also find a park called K-Park, with a climbing rock, play sculpture modeled after a historic wagon, grassy hills, picnic areas and walking paths.
Hours: Daily, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. during the summer season (typically Memorial Day through Labor Day).
Nixa Splash Pad
Location: 701 N. Taylor Way, Nixa, MO 65714. The splash pad is located at McCauley Park, immediately adjacent to the Nixa Aquatics Center.
Why it’s worth visiting
This one has stunned my friends because it’s so new and nice! One of Nixa’s latest family attractions, the splash pad offers all the fun of a water playground without the admission fee. Located right outside the aquatic center, it’s an easy stop for younger kids who may not be ready for a full day at the pool.
What’s there
Located at McCauley Park next to Nixa Aquatics Center, the splash pad features interactive water sprays, fountains and ground-level splash features designed for kids to run through and explore. The city added the attraction in 2025 as part of a larger improvement project, and it’s free to use during the summer season.
Hours: It is typically open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., weather permitting.
Strafford Spray Park
Location: Howard Smith Community Park. 408 E. Bumgarner Blvd., Strafford, MO 65757.
Why it’s worth visiting
This small-town spray park has developed a loyal following among Springfield-area parents who appreciate its quieter atmosphere. Visitors frequently describe the park as a “hidden gem” and love that kids can move seamlessly between the spray park, playgrounds and wide-open grassy areas. Perfect spot for introverts.
ICE CREAM STOP: This is a short drive away from the most charming ice cream shop in the Springfield area: Papaw’s Kookies & Kream Ice Cream Parlor. It’s an old-fashioned, small-town spot that’s perfect to visit after splashing in the sun.
What’s there
A spray park, two playgrounds, climbing equipment, slides, picnic pavilions, charcoal grills and a walking track surrounding a large grassy field. The large pavilion sits closest to the spray park, making it a popular birthday-party spot.
Hours: The spray park operates from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. Hours are noon to 6 p.m. Sundays, noon to 7 p.m. Mondays, and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
Rogersville Splash Pad
Location: 270 County Line Road, Rogersville, MO 65742
Why it’s worth visiting
Rogersville’s splash pad is a charming one thanks to its unique water-tower centerpiece that nods to the town’s small-town character. It’s surrounded by a large playground, mature shade trees, open grassy areas and clean facilities. I love the large shade structures surrounding the park, with benches for parents underneath!
What’s there
The splash pad features ground sprays, fountain jets and the distinctive elevated water-tower feature. It’s located within Rogersville Parks and Recreation. According to the city’s 2026 season announcement, visitors can activate the splash pad by touching the sensor on top of the blue pole, and the water runs in 15-minute increments.
Hours: Daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. during the splash pad season.
Farmer’s Park Jumping Fountains
Location: Farmer’s Park, 2144 E. Republic Road, Springfield, MO 65804
Why it’s worth visiting
Tucked into the heart of Farmers Park, these interactive fountains are less of a traditional splash pad and more of a playful water feature. Kids can dart through the jets while parents grab coffee or relax nearby.
What’s there
Ground-level fountain jets that burst from the pavement, plus easy access to Farmers Park’s restaurants, coffee shops, green space, public art and community events. The fountains operate on a timed rotation, creating a game-like experience as kids try to predict where the next spray will appear.
Hours: Open seasonally from May through September. Hours vary by day, but the fountains operate seven days a week, not just during the Farmers Market.
Monday-Wednesday: 9:30 a.m.-noon and 2-5:30 p.m.
Thursday: 9:30 a.m.-noon and 2-5 p.m.
Thursday (Parties at the Park): 5-8:30 p.m.
Friday: 9:30 a.m.-noon and 2-10 p.m.
Saturday: 8:45 a.m.-1:45 p.m. and 5-10 p.m.
Sunday: 10:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m.
The fountains operate on a 30-minutes-on, 15-minutes-off rotation during regular hours and a 45-minutes-on, 15-minutes-off rotation during Thursday evening Parties at the Park.
